The Clegg impact soil test (CIST), also known as the Clegg hammer, was developed by Dr Baden Clegg in the 1970s. The test is used in Quality control stage to measure the compaction state of surface layers. The suitable surface types which can be test include: roadwork, earthwork, airstrips, turf and sand.
The test is followed ASTM D5874 02(2007)
The test report on Clegg Impact Soil Test includes: identification of test specimen, date of test, test temperature, Clegg Impact Value.
