The Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) is used to measure the rate of penetration through the various layers of a pavement. The test result can present the shear strength and compaction state of pavement layers.
The Dynamic penetration penetrometer test result is generally expressed in term of the DPC penetration index (DPI). The DPI is used to identify pavement layer boundaries, determine material layer strength and estimate overall strength of the unbound materials. The test is followed UK standard IAN73/06 and HD29/08
